A gorgeous antique Davenport Ironstone “Cyprus” pattern plate, dating to the mid-19th century, circa 1840s.
The center features an enchanting Chinoiserie landscape with a pagoda-style building, tropical palm trees, lush foliage and a tranquil body of water. The scene is framed by an intricate scrolling border with large peony-like blossoms and delicate floral details.
The reverse bears the desirable “IRONSTONE / CYPRUS / DAVENPORT” backstamp.
The combination of the deep black/mulberry transfer, creamy aged ironstone and extensive natural crazing gives this plate an incredible old-world, gothic feel. At approximately 180 years old, it has the perfect amount of age and character.
Please note: This plate has chips to the rim and is being sold strictly for decorative purposes and is not suitable for food use. It would make a wonderful wall plate, shelf display or addition to a collection of antique transferware.
Measurements: Approximately 8.25 in diameter.
Condition: Antique condition with extensive age-related crazing, discoloration, surface wear and chips to the rim. Please examine all photos carefully.
