A charming vintage reproduction of Thomas Gainsborough’s iconic The Blue Boy, beautifully presented in a painted deep green wood frame with a warm cream mat.
The image is printed on silk, giving the artwork a lovely softly textured appearance and subtle sheen. The combination of the blue suit, aged cream mat and green frame makes this such a pretty piece for an English country, traditional, cottage or collected interior.
A particularly fun detail is the original I.R. Grimm Jewelers label on the back. I.R. Grimm was a longtime Oil City, Pennsylvania family business, established in 1898 and operated by five generations of the Grimm family until it closed in 2004. The shop was known not only for jewelry, but also for eclectic gifts, decorative objects and original artwork. This piece was evidently sold through their Oil City store, giving it a wonderful little piece of Pennsylvania history.
